Have there been moments in your life where you have felt thankful for someone or something, but did not express it?
Gratitude can help you acknowledge the abundance that is already present in your life and is strongly associated with greater happiness. Feeling — and expressing — gratitude can help you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve your health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. And yet, there are so many times where we may feel thankful for something someone has said or done for us, but we let it slide, we fail to express it, and in doing so, miss out on an opportunity to bring joy — both to ourselves and to others.
As the poet William Arthur Ward noted, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
I, for one, am deeply grateful to you, dear reader, for continuing on this journey with me. And I invite you, today, to tell someone how grateful you are for their presence in your life. Make sure to tell them what exactly it is about them you are grateful for, and the impact they have on you. Then observe how your sharing makes them feel, and how it makes you feel.
Warmly,
Hitendra
