The School of Life: Lessons Beyond Formal Education

The School of Life 👨‍🎓

As a professor, I see up close how much value formal education can bring to one’s life. But if you, like me, haven’t been a university student for some time now, it doesn’t mean you’ve stopped learning. We’re all part of the School of Life. In this School, the beautiful campus is the walks you take in nature and the consultation you do with yourself. Your network is your inner circle of friends, who inspire and guide you. The professors are the intuitions and inklings you have from time-to-time. And the Dean of that school is your own inner voice. Because as Gandhi once said, “truth resides in every human heart”.

This was the message I shared with the graduates of the Columbia Business School when I was honored with the opportunity to deliver a short speech on receiving the Class of ‘22 Commitment to Excellence Award. You can watch my speech here.

What have you recently learned in the School of Life?

Warmly,
Hitendra
