Thanksgiving — and the Whole Arc of Our Life

I was working on my laptop at one of my favorite neighborhood cafes here in New York City.

I paused, for a moment, to go within. I felt a pull to connect with my soul.

And then suddenly, gratitude started to flow inside me. Gratitude for the moment, for what I was experiencing.

And then it expanded. Gratitude for moments from the recent past.

And then it expanded further, until, in one fell swoop, I saw the whole arc of my life as a continuous stream of blessings, some that were known to me and some that had flowed into my life below the field of my conscious awareness.

Oh, wow. My heart was bursting with thankfulness. How grateful I felt for my life, for the days and years that have passed by.

A thought arose, “But what of the future?”

And then I remembered Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words, “All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.

Thanksgiving is one of the most special holidays in America.

Wishing all amongst us who are celebrating it, a very blessed holiday, and inviting us all to join in a joyful reflection on all that is beautiful and bountiful in your life.

Warmly,
Hitendra
